When I first started my career I was a traveling therapist which gave me additional exposure to different practice areas I had not had the opportunity to work in as a student. I spent most of my time as a traveling OT in the acute care setting and, after a year and a half of traveling, I decided to pursue a permanent job with WakeMed Health & Hospitals in Raleigh. I worked in the inpatient rehab setting with patients who had spinal cord injuries for 6.5 years.
A dedicated certified occupational therapy assistant who is determined to help the occupational therapy (OT) profession and its future potential practitioners continue its progression. Treating patients with a humanistic approach, spreading awareness, participating in advocacy, and educating about occupational therapy and its wonderful benefits is a passion.
As an occupational therapist with experience in physical rehabilitation, my goal is to aid individuals in overcoming the unexpected hurdles that life may bring. I have a strong interest in community-based care, specifically in the area of increasing healthcare literacy and outcomes among at-risk populations. I am an avid reader and a lifelong learner.
A proven and passionate leader that gets results through mentoring, coaching and strategic planning. A graduate of Howard University, BS in Occupational Therapy 1992 and Boston University, MS in Occupational Therapy 2008. I have over 20 years of experience as an Occupational Therapist (primarily in hand rehabilitation and Lymphedema management) and over 15 years of experience in Healthcare Leadership.
